About the role
Responsibilities
- Review applications and financial requirements to determine risk acceptability in accordance with company guidelines
- Utilize pricing components, rating methodologies, and predictive modeling tools to price risk based on financial and competitive analysis
- Demonstrate technical underwriting skills through strategic account reviews and thorough file documentation
- Prepare and analyze information regarding adverse underwriting decisions, rate appeals, and declinations to drive territory results
- Adhere to CAT guidelines and underwriting discipline to minimize exposure and ensure appropriate pricing
- Maintain current knowledge of state and territory regulations, issues, and industry trends
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of insurance underwriting experience
- Proven experience underwriting, quoting, and binding profitable business
- Experience working with large brokerage houses, wholesalers, and specialty retailers
- Established relationships with large brokers on both a regional and national level
- Strong negotiation, communication, and attention to detail skills
- Ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
