About the role
Responsibilities
- Serve as PIC/SIC for experimental transport category carrier aircraft, including the B747-400, and other aircraft for chase and training missions
- Write flight test plans, test cards, flight reports, and final test reports
- Develop test strategies, procedures, and operational guidance, including normal and emergency procedures
- Lead or participate in system design reviews, ground tests, and flight test events as a Test Conductor or Test Director
- Participate in control room operations as Mission Director or training officer for FAA licensed commercial space missions
- Maintain flying currency and proficiency in multiple aircraft types and instrument ratings
Requirements
- Graduate of a SETP-recognized test pilot school or equivalent developmental flight test experience
- Minimum 1,200 hours total PIC flight time, including at least 500 hours in turbine aircraft
- Three years of experience on developmental flight test programs
- FAA Commercial Airplane Multi-Engine Land certificate (without centerline thrust restriction)
- FAA Second Class medical certificate
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a similar technical field
- US Citizenship with the ability to acquire/maintain a US security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- FAA Airline Transport Rating (ATP) or additional type ratings in multi-engine, non-centerline thrust aircraft
- 747-400 type rating
- FAA high altitude endorsement or equivalent military training
- Recent experience in formation or chase flying
- Experience with external stores carriage and separation flight tests
- Master’s Degree in engineering or a related technical field
