Senior Test Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and implement test plans and protocols for evaluating fire safety performance of products
• Identify and apply specialized test equipment such as calorimeters, smoke chambers, and gas analyzers
• Oversee the setup, operation, and maintenance of laboratory facilities and equipment
• Conduct fire safety tests including fire resistance, flame spread, and heat release rate tests
• Manage multiple projects concurrently ensuring alignment with timelines and budgets
• Collect, process, and analyze test data using various processing techniques
• Communicate research findings and recommendations through technical documentation and presentations
• Mentor junior lab engineers and provide expert guidance on fire safety testing

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or related field
• Minimum of three years of professional experience in a client-focused laboratory environment
• Experience with li-ion battery abuse and fire testing is strongly preferred
• Knowledge of operating and maintaining laboratory equipment like hood calorimeters and test furnaces
• Proficiency with data collection software and instrumentation for temperature, heat flux, and pressure
• U.S. citizen or permanent resident
• Ability to work full time onsite in Baltimore, MD
