Senior Technician, Failure Analysis

Responsibilities

• Execute non-destructive and destructive failure analysis techniques, including sample preparation such as lead rework, soldering, and PCB extraction.
• Operate advanced FA equipment including microscopes, X-ray, acoustic microscopy (SAM), SEM/EDX, and decapsulation tools.
• Conduct electrical and physical characterization using bench test instruments like curve tracers and multi-temp testers.
• Perform micro-sectioning, polishing, and parallel lapping to inspect internal device components.
• Collaborate with Quality, Applications, Test, and Design Engineers to investigate customer complaints and correlate findings.
• Generate and publish comprehensive Failure Analysis reports and maintain meticulous records in FA databases.
• Support laboratory operations through equipment maintenance, calibration, and consumable management.

Requirements

• Graduate of Electrical or Electronics Technology or an equivalent technical course.
• Strong knowledge of electrical instruments and bench testing tools (e.g., power supply, multimeter, signal generator, oscilloscope, I/V curve trace tester).
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to interpret ATE results and write clear technical reports.

Preferred Qualifications

• Intermediate experience in Semiconductor Failure Analysis (CSAM, X-RAY, SEM/EDX).
• Background in the semiconductor industry with understanding of Assembly, IC fabrication, and testing processes.
• Familiarity with fault isolation techniques such as emission microscopy or thermal analysis.
