About the role
Responsibilities
- Carry out histological preparations of human and mouse tissues using existing or optimized immunohistochemical methods
- Analyze stained tissues using advanced imaging techniques, including confocal microscopy
- Perform molecular biology and biochemical experiments, such as western blotting, electrophoresis, RNA/DNA/Protein isolations, and PCR
- Manage the laboratory’s mouse colony through husbandry, genotyping, and various molecular, cellular, and behavioral assays
- Develop and maintain IACUC protocols
- Maintain laboratory equipment, records, and perform quality control/assurance activities
- Ensure laboratory compliance with state, local, and university regulations and manage reagent ordering
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- At least 1.5 years of related experience or equivalent in education and training
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of experimental methods in cellular and molecular neurobiology
- Prior experience working with mouse models of disease
- Comfort working with human-derived tissues and samples
- Experience in RNA sequencing and computational methods
- Proficiency in Excel and ability to use internet resources for literature searches and database mining
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
