About the role

Responsibilities

  • Carry out histological preparations of human and mouse tissues using existing or optimized immunohistochemical methods
  • Analyze stained tissues using advanced imaging techniques, including confocal microscopy
  • Perform molecular biology and biochemical experiments, such as western blotting, electrophoresis, RNA/DNA/Protein isolations, and PCR
  • Manage the laboratory’s mouse colony through husbandry, genotyping, and various molecular, cellular, and behavioral assays
  • Develop and maintain IACUC protocols
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, records, and perform quality control/assurance activities
  • Ensure laboratory compliance with state, local, and university regulations and manage reagent ordering

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • At least 1.5 years of related experience or equivalent in education and training

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of experimental methods in cellular and molecular neurobiology
  • Prior experience working with mouse models of disease
  • Comfort working with human-derived tissues and samples
  • Experience in RNA sequencing and computational methods
  • Proficiency in Excel and ability to use internet resources for literature searches and database mining
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
