Senior Technical Writer

Responsibilities

• Develop, write, and update technical documentation for aerospace systems including operation and maintenance manuals, specifications, and compliance documentation
• Collaborate with aerospace engineers, software developers, and program managers to ensure content accuracy
• Translate engineering data such as CAD models and test results into user-friendly manuals
• Produce diagrams, schematics, and visual aids to enhance understanding of complex aerospace systems
• Manage documentation repositories and ensure controlled versioning
• Ensure compliance with aerospace standards and regulations including AS9100, FAA, and ITAR
• Work with quality assurance and regulatory teams to prepare documentation for certifications and audits

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
• 5–8 years of experience as a technical writer
• 5+ years of experience writing technical documentation in the aerospace or defense industry
• Proficiency with MadCap Flare and Git
• Experience creating technical illustrations using tools like Visio, PowerPoint, Photoshop, or Illustrator
• U.S. citizenship

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of unmanned aerial or aerospace systems and ability to understand CAD models and technical schematics
• Familiarity with PLM systems or manufacturing execution system software
• Experience with AS9100, FAA, or EASA regulations
• Professional exposure to military specifications
