Senior Technical Staff Engineer - Design (IO)

Responsibilities

• Design planning of pad rings, package substrates, and bump pattern construction
• Dynamically define and optimize pad ring connectivity
• Work with cross-functional teams on deliverables including DEF and Verilog netlists
• Interface with Architects, Physical Design, Product Engineering, and foundry teams
• Support JTAG TAP controller integration and implementation to ensure IEEE 1149.1 compliance
• Collaborate on TAP controller operation, scan-enable path handling, and post-silicon debug requirements
• Support Verification, Emulation, and ASIC lab validation, including providing logic modifications and workarounds

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering
• 12+ years of related experience in semiconductor design
• Hands-on experience with pad ring planning, IO cell placement, and bump map/pattern definition
• Knowledge of IO library cells, IO standards, and PHY-level interfaces such as SerDes, DDR, PCIe, and CXL
• Proficiency in Verilog or System Verilog
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of JTAG/Boundary Scan (IEEE 1149.1) architecture and TAP controller operation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with IO planning and implementation EDA tools (e.g., Orbit IO, ISP)
• Hands-on experience with DFT methodologies
• Familiarity with JTAG-based post-silicon debug flows and SoC IO validation
• Experience with boundary scan cell behavior and TAP signal verification
• Scripting experience
