Senior Technical Director, Environmental Approvals

Responsibilities

• Oversee the strategy, pursuit, management, and delivery of major environmental approval projects.
• Foster technical excellence within the Ecology & Environmental Approvals Business Unit.
• Drive the growth of new client relationships and portfolios across VIC, SA, and WA markets, specifically within mining, resources, and government sectors.
• Lead and role model a zero-harm HSE culture, ensuring all safety and environmental obligations are met.
• Support strategic technical hiring and workforce planning to build team depth and resilience.
• Implement technical training programs integrated with the national strategy.

Requirements

• Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Urban Planning, Ecology, or a related field.
• 20–25+ years of experience in Environmental Approvals.
• Proven experience in business growth strategy and developing technical talent.
• Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and mentor highly effective teams.
• Expertise in managing risk on complex or substantial projects.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills with a history of building strong interpersonal relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

• Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant environmental or planning field.
• Extensive experience working with industry leads and client relationship managers to drive market strategies.
