Senior Technical Accountant

Responsibilities

• Draft and maintain technical accounting memos documenting treatment for new, complex, or non-routine transactions in accordance with GAAP.
• Collaborate with the Controller and VP of Accounting and Finance Operations to analyze financial statements and determine reporting approaches.
• Serve as a technical resource for revenue recognition, including grants, contributions, and compliance with ASC 606 and ASC 958.
• Coordinate external audit activities, including preparing PBC schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
• Assist with the preparation and review of IRS Form 990s in coordination with external tax preparers.
• Perform and document internal control assessments and support remediation efforts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA certification is required.
• 3–5 years of progressive experience in public accounting, technical accounting, audit, or financial reporting.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial statements, and footnote disclosures.
• Demonstrated ability to research technical accounting issues and produce clear, well-reasoned memos.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• A combination of public and non-profit industry accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards.
• Experience working within multi-entity structures.
• Demonstrated interest in leveraging AI, automation, and technology to improve accounting processes.
