About the role
Responsibilities
- Draft and maintain technical accounting memos documenting treatment for new, complex, or non-routine transactions in accordance with GAAP.
- Collaborate with the Controller and VP of Accounting and Finance Operations to analyze financial statements and determine reporting approaches.
- Serve as a technical resource for revenue recognition, including grants, contributions, and compliance with ASC 606 and ASC 958.
- Coordinate external audit activities, including preparing PBC schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Assist with the preparation and review of IRS Form 990s in coordination with external tax preparers.
- Perform and document internal control assessments and support remediation efforts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification is required.
- 3–5 years of progressive experience in public accounting, technical accounting, audit, or financial reporting.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial statements, and footnote disclosures.
- Demonstrated ability to research technical accounting issues and produce clear, well-reasoned memos.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- A combination of public and non-profit industry accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards.
- Experience working within multi-entity structures.
- Demonstrated interest in leveraging AI, automation, and technology to improve accounting processes.
