About the role

Responsibilities

  • Research, analyze, and document technical accounting and tax issues impacting the College, including the application of FASB ASC, AICPA guidance, and IRS regulations.
  • Prepare technical accounting memoranda, tax analyses, and position papers to support institutional compliance.
  • Develop and implement accounting and tax policies, procedures, and internal controls related to payroll taxation, UBIT, sales and use tax, and charitable contributions.
  • Coordinate and prepare complex tax compliance filings, including Forms 990, 990-T, 5500, W-2, 1099 series, and state tax returns.
  • Lead or assist in responding to federal and state agency notices, audits, and compliance inquiries from the IRS and Florida Department of Revenue.
  • Participate in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with campus departments to provide guidance on accounting treatment and financial procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible professional accounting or tax experience.
  • Knowledge of IRS and state audit processes and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Experience with FASB ASC and AICPA guidance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within higher education or not-for-profit organizations.
  • Experience in public accounting serving higher education clients.
