Senior Systems Operations Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead the management and operational ownership of mission-critical Linux-based middleware platforms, including Oracle Coherence, Amps, and Tomcat.
• Provide L2 production support for applications and platform services within a regulated banking environment.
• Handle production incidents, outages, and escalations, including triage, impact analysis, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
• Manage and support containerized platforms such as OpenShift and Kubernetes, leveraging orchestration and automation tools.
• Drive operational efficiency through scripting and automation to increase system efficiencies and lower human intervention.
• Ensure platform security and compliance by managing certificates, vulnerability remediation, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with vendors and cross-functional technical teams to resolve complex issues and ensure high availability.
• Provide technical consulting and mentorship to junior engineers to promote operational excellence.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in Systems Engineering, Technology Architecture, or equivalent.
• 7+ years of experience in systems and application production support within enterprise environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with Linux/UNIX systems and scripting (Bash, PowerShell, or Python).
• Experience supporting containerized platforms using Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
• Experience with distributed systems such as Oracle Coherence, Amps, or Tomcat.
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools like Splunk, ELK, Grafana, or Prometheus.
• Ability to work rotational shifts and provide weekend support on a rotational basis.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting large-scale capital markets or financial services applications.
• Familiarity with managed Kubernetes platforms such as EKS, AKS, or GKE.
• Experience with application modernization and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting performance issues using tools like SAR, PerfMon, and tcpdump.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
