Senior Systems Development Engineer

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot complex backup, restore, replication, and retention issues across PPDM, Data Domain, and integrated workflows to determine root cause.
• Collaborate with Product Engineering, Software Development, and Product Management to identify systemic issues and drive prioritization of improvements.
• Communicate complex data-protection concepts clearly to customers and internal stakeholders.
• Develop internal training, documentation, and troubleshooting guides focused on data-protection best practices.
• Lead closed-loop corrective-action initiatives to address recurring defects and operational gaps in the software stack.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data protection engineering, backup infrastructure, and systems engineering.
• Strong Linux/Unix systems and debugging background, including systems programming in C, multi-threading, and algorithms.
• Proficiency in using debugging tools such as GDB.
• Advanced networking knowledge (TCP/IP) as applied to backup traffic and storage connectivity.
• Hands-on experience with VMware, Windows, and heterogeneous workloads.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Expertise in Data Domain (DDOS, Boost, replication, cloud tiering).
• Experience with PowerProtect Data Manager (PPDM) including assets, protection engines, and storage workflows.
