About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide IT systems administration support in a heterogeneous Microsoft Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment.
- Apply foundational experience of Windows Server or Linux systems, including core services such as DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory.
- Use established troubleshooting techniques to resolve moderate to complex technical issues involving operating systems, hardware integration, and enterprise services.
- Support data storage and backup operations, including RAID concepts and backup/restore technologies.
- Install, configure, and support software applications requested by end users.
- Partner with Cybersecurity teams to maintain system security requirements and assist with documentation and training.
- Maintain availability for systems operating 24x7, which may require occasional work outside standard business hours.
Requirements
- University degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance required prior to start date.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Experience working with Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
- Experience with one or more technologies: Active Directory, WSUS, VMware, MECM, Exchange, or enterprise backup/recovery tools.
- Ability to obtain DoD 8140 / 8570 certification (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent) within 6 months of start.
Preferred Qualifications
- DoD 8140 / 8570 certifications, including OS-specific certifications.
- Experience supporting compliance activities such as NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS, or DoD/RMF.
- Experience with data storage technologies, including NAS and SAN solutions.
- Proficiency with VMware products such as vCenter, vSphere, and ESXi.
- Scripting experience using PowerShell, Bash, or similar languages.
- Exposure to High Performance Computing (HPC) environments.
