Senior System Quality Engineer

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain quality standards for charging systems, including uptime thresholds, fault rates, and hardware failure modes.
• Analyze field performance data to identify systemic failures and prioritize engineering responses.
• Develop and implement QA testing standards focused on OCPP and ISO 15118 communication protocols.
• Perform advanced root cause analysis on system issues using network analysis tools like Wireshark to debug vehicle-to-charger communication.
• Collaborate with vendors to manage resolution of firmware, hardware, and integration defects.
• Ensure lab-to-site validation consistency by verifying that lab configurations match field deployments.
• Develop inspection protocols for new site commissioning to ensure sites meet defined quality gates.
• Contribute to reliability planning for energy management infrastructure, including energy meters, local controllers, and DERs like BESS and Solar.

Requirements

• 5+ years in quality, reliability, or systems engineering, ideally in power electronics, energy storage, or EV charging.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, system architecture diagrams, and hardware test reports.
• Expertise in high-voltage and low-power electrical systems.
• Hands-on debugging expertise of ISO 15118-2 & 20, DIN 70121, and OCPP protocols.
• Practical understanding of CCS, NACS, and MCS standards.
• Experience validating local site energy management infrastructure and complex grid interactions.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of OCPI and OCPP 2.0 standards.
• Familiarity with charge management systems and fleet telematics data.
• Experience with hardware and IoT integrations into backend services.
• Hands-on experience with EV/EVSE emulator systems for functional and integration testing.
• Experience with Python automation and integrating with CI/CD pipelines.
