Senior System Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Define design requirements for boxes to meet System Architecture system specifications
• Lead the design, development, and qualification of boxes to meet requirements
• Act as both box design lead and TPM to deliver working box designs
• Develop understanding of system functionality, PIC/EIC functionality, thermal, and fiber network requirements
• Define test specifications and collaborate with Build Process and Validation teams
• Use Python scripting and Controls SW APIs to control lab equipment and proprietary systems

Requirements

• M.S. or PhD in Physics, Optical or Electrical Engineering
• 5+ years of industry experience designing, validating, and testing electro-optic systems
• Experience designing fiber optic systems, PICs, and fiber networking
• Experience with optical test equipment (power meters, OBR, OSA)
• Proven track record of delivering electro-optic products to production and integrating them into complex systems
• Strong organizational, communication, and analytical problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with vacuum systems
• Experience with optical simulations
