About the role

Responsibilities

  • Execute projects involving system design, programming, factory testing, and modification of automated control systems and power management systems for Switchboard applications.
  • Develop complex drawings and bills-of-material based on established switchboard designs to convey equipment application details.
  • Consult with plant and field sales engineers to interpret and define new equipment applications following customer and internal specifications.
  • Provide sketches, mark-ups, and technical direction to Electrical Designers for project drawing development.
  • Create, modify, test, and deploy software for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Automatic Transfer Controllers (ATC), and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI).
  • Prepare customer submittals, Sequence of Operation (SOO), and detailed test procedures.
  • Perform factory testing and debugging of switchboard control systems, including troubleshooting wiring and safety circuits.
  • Support field start-ups as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of controls experience OR minimum of 7 years of experience in power distribution applications.
  • Must reside within a 50-mile radius of Sumter, SC or El Paso, TX (no relocation offered).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of power distribution systems, specifically Switchgears and Switchboards, and control systems.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • Experience with HMI (Human Machine Interface) software and power monitoring software packages.
  • Proficiency with test equipment and diagnostic instruments for automation and power management systems.
