Senior Supervisor, Underwriting

Responsibilities

• Underwrite insurance applications, customer service requests, and retrospective cases by evaluating administrative, financial, and health information.
• Finalize complex applications requiring approval from reinsurance companies or regional/global underwriting authorities.
• Supervise an underwriting sub-team, providing guidance, training, and mentorship to new underwriters.
• Manage workload distribution and monitor processing to ensure Turnaround Time (TAT) commitments are met.
• Coordinate with the Underwriting Support Team to monitor medical examination quality at affiliated clinics and hospitals.
• Participate in new product development and the enhancement of underwriting systems and processes.
• Draft and update underwriting operational processes, manuals, and occupational classification lists.
• Act as a departmental representative to resolve queries or complaints from customers and agents.
• Provide medical underwriting training and presentations to underwriters and the sales force.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• At least 5 years of professional work experience.
• Proven leadership or team management experience.
• Proficiency in English (both written and verbal).
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively under high pressure and handle challenging tasks.

• Background or specialized knowledge in the medical field.
• Direct experience within the insurance industry.
