Senior Supervising Attorney, Inclusion and Anti-Extremism

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of inclusion and anti-extremism legal advocacy strategies, particularly in the Deep South
• Develop, lead, supervise, and advise on complex civil rights impact cases in federal and state courts
• Supervise and manage litigation teams including attorneys, paralegals, analysts, and investigators
• Collaborate with Policy and Communications departments to advance legal priorities and communication strategies
• Serve as a public thought leader and represent the organization in media and at conferences
• Maintain relationships with community partners, coalition members, and legal allies
• Hire, mentor, train, and conduct performance reviews for staff

Requirements

• At least eight years of federal court civil litigation or comparable legal experience
• At least two years of experience supervising legal professionals
• J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school
• Membership in good standing of at least one U.S. state bar

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with First Amendment, due process, and equal protection rights
• Knowledge of the Ku Klux Klan Act and other anti-discrimination statutes
• Experience with public and private torts or digital and cyber law
• Experience working with grassroots campaigns and impacted communities in the Deep South
