Senior Structures Engineer

Responsibilities

• Drive and develop innovative designs for specialized tools and equipment for installation, maintenance, and heavy-lift of fusion machine components
• Design temporary support structures including frames, fixtures, falsework, scaffolding, and temporary hoists
• Own structural interfaces between the fusion machine and the civil facility, including foundation embedments and anchorages
• Design seismic restraint systems and vibration isolation mounts
• Design test stands and develop load-proofing protocols to validate lifting and handling equipment
• Provide detailed mechanical analysis using Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
• Ensure all designs adhere to ASME BTH-1, ASME B30.20, ASCE 37, and OSHA requirements
• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure practical and manufacturable designs

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering
• 10+ years of experience as a Design Engineer in complex structural or mechanical systems
• Deep knowledge of ASME BTH-1, ASME B30.20, ASCE 37, and OSHA requirements
• Experience with temporary structures and construction engineering
• Proven success designing multi-degree of freedom precision systems and high-load lifting equipment
• Expertise in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural integrity and dynamic/fatigue loading
• Strong understanding of material properties, manufacturing processes, and DFM
• Advanced knowledge of CAD software and GD&T

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Experience in actuated systems, heavy jacking operations, and complex preloading systems
• Experience delivering major, first-of-a-kind projects with budgets exceeding $100 million
• Experience working in a startup environment
