Senior Structures Design Engineer – Wing & Empennage

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, and document structural requirements for wing and empennage designs.
• Maintain and modify structural designs using 3-D CAD tools to provide product definition to production, suppliers, and customers.
• Lead the performance, integration, and analysis of tests to validate structural design against specifications.
• Manage supplier development, testing, and production activities to optimize design and achieve program goals.
• Investigate emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and training to developing team members within the organization.
• Develop certification documentation to support CFR Part 25 Type Cert projects.
• Collaborate with international partners and oversee projects involving global suppliers.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Material Sciences).
• 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of experience in aircraft structural design.
• 3+ years of experience in the design of composite structures.
• Experience with aircraft, heavy structures, hardware systems, or interiors manufacturing/production systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience working on wing or empennage primary structures (e.g., wing tips, leading/trailing edges, wing box, or stabilizers).
• 5+ years of experience performing lead-level duties under minimal direction.
• Experience designing and qualifying composite primary structures, including laminate design and ply-drop strategies.
• Hands-on experience with the fabrication of metallic and composite structures.
• Current or prior DER/AR/E-UM designation.
