Senior Structural and Mechanical Systems Engineer

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Technical Lead for structural and mechanical system design for spacecraft structures.
• Develop and maintain schedules and budgets for mechanical and structural work packages.
• Identify, monitor, and mitigate structural and mechanical systems risks.
• Flow down customer requirements to subsystem and hardware levels to ensure compliance.
• Define and implement structural development, qualification, and validation plans.
• Develop and manage analytical models using FEA, performing static, dynamic, and quasi-static analyses.
• Manage structural and system mass properties, including center of gravity and moments of inertia.
• Define, organize, and lead structural testing campaigns including vibration, static, acoustic, and shock.
• Document analysis activities and write comprehensive test and compliance reports.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• 10+ years of analytical design experience for structures.
• Expertise in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and analytical modeling.
• Proven experience with spacecraft mechanical testing (vibration, static, and shock).
• Experience managing work packages, including responsibility for delivery to budget and schedule.
• Proficiency with engineering software such as Nastran, HyperMesh, MATLAB, Ansys Workbench, or Solidworks.
• Experience analyzing both lightweight metallic and composite materials.
