About the role
Responsibilities
- Own the modeling, structural analysis, and testing of components, subsystems, and entire spacecraft
- Perform analysis of complex assemblies to satisfy launch and on-orbit requirements
- Define structural load and test requirements for components and subsystems
- Lead vibration test campaigns for analyzed components and spacecraft
- Develop and define design best practices for future programs
- Mentor and train junior mechanical engineers
- Assist in recruiting and interviewing new teammates
Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. in mechanical or aerospace engineering (or equivalent)
- 4+ years of professional experience
- Strong Finite Element analysis skills (Femap/Nastran expertise preferred)
- Structural dynamics testing experience
- Experience correlating finite element models based on dynamics test data
- Experience mentoring junior engineers
- U.S. Citizenship, Lawful Permanent Residency, or Refugee/Asylee Status required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience analyzing and testing composite structures
- Experience defining vibration environments and running mechanical testing on spacecraft
- Ability to personally design, analyze, and procure complex mechanical assemblies
- Experience in synthesizing requirements and flowing them down to sub-scale verification builds
- Acoustics analysis and/or test experience
