About the role
Responsibilities
- Serve as the plastics Subject Matter Expert (SME) for injection molding tooling and part design
- Provide guidance to suppliers on optimizing silicone parts and tooling for scalable manufacturing
- Use tooling design and DFM programs to design and standardize robust, optimum tools
- Run and analyze moldflow programs and create risk assessment reports to mitigate risks
- Develop and standardize systems for tool management, including FAT processes and design specifications
- Lead the technical aspects and designs of complete molding cells, including automation and vision inspection systems
- Work with commodity managers to develop a pipeline of cost savings initiatives
- Drive technical solutions and improvement projects across the global supply base
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Plastics, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related)
- 8+ years of experience in Plastics Injection Mold Tooling and/or Part Design
- Knowledge of silicone manufacturing processes
- Working knowledge and experience in Scientific Injection Molding
- Strong Root Cause Analysis (RCA) skills
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally (15%-25%)
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in advanced injection molding technologies such as cube molds, two-shot, and stack molds
- Working knowledge of medical polymers and silicone processing methods
- Experience with cavity pressure sensors and automation/vision systems
- Six Sigma Process Improvement experience or certification
- Strong ability to influence decisions and lead cross-functional teams in fast-paced environments
