Senior/Staff Software Engineer, Android

Responsibilities

• Design and build Suno’s Android app across creation, discovery, playback, and social experiences
• Create foundational abstractions and libraries for performant, highly interactive media experiences
• Own feature development from zero to one, including scoping, shipping, and post-launch iteration
• Collaborate closely with product and design to shape the feel, flow, and direction of the app
• Optimize for performance, responsiveness, and delight, focusing on render times, audio latency, and micro-interactions
• Set the technical direction for the Android platform and define architectural patterns
• Mentor engineers and raise the bar for code quality and engineering culture

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience shipping production Android apps
• Advanced expertise in Kotlin and modern Android development frameworks
• Experience building fluid, polished animations and translating design prototypes into production-grade code
• Strong performance profiling and benchmarking skills across UI rendering, memory, and network efficiency
• Ability to work with ambiguity and make technical tradeoffs without a fully-defined spec
• Strong collaborative spirit and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience with ExoPlayer and Media3 for audio/video playback
• Experience working with audio streaming pipelines or real-time audio on Android
• Experience building social product features such as feeds, follow graphs, and notifications
• Track record of building 0→1 consumer products at a fast-moving startup
• Technical leadership or mentorship experience
