Senior Staff Engineer, Platform R&D

Responsibilities

• Lead fast-cycle R&D efforts across MAPS domains using AI-augmented workflows to prototype solutions
• Partner with engineering and product to evaluate the viability of new platform capabilities
• Provide senior technical guidance on architecture, implementation, and build-vs-extend tradeoffs
• Define scope and produce concrete artifacts like prototypes and technical specs to reduce ambiguity
• Identify opportunities to consolidate, reuse, or generalize platform capabilities across domains

Requirements

• 10+ years of software development experience
• Significant experience in senior individual contributor or staff-level roles
• Proven ability to rapidly build high-fidelity prototypes across various technologies
• Demonstrated experience using AI tools to accelerate software development and research
• Strong understanding of managed cloud services, distributed systems, and platform engineering patterns
• Proficiency with modern compiled or systems languages such as Go, Rust, Java, or C++
• Experience with cloud-native infrastructure
