Senior Staff Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute technology projects that scale with Faire’s growth, focusing on data integrity, security, performance, and reliability.
• Define technology strategy, roadmaps, and architecture patterns for data infrastructure and analytics platforms.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to solve complex problems regarding ETL/ELT pipelines, data warehousing, and cost-efficient compute/storage.
• Engage in team planning and prioritization to balance urgent needs with long-term architectural goals.
• Lead architecture development for data ingestion, storage, orchestration, and governance.

Requirements

• Extensive experience designing and operating data streaming, batch, ETL/ELT, and orchestration systems at scale.
• Proven track record of managing data warehousing at petabyte scale.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python.
• Experience defining architecture patterns and building reliable, scalable data pipelines.
• Experience in a growth-stage company, ideally enabling self-serve data models for large organizations.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills to work across multiple product and platform groups.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Snowflake, Airflow, and Spark.
• Experience with AWS and Kotlin.
• Deep understanding of performance, capacity, and cost trade-offs in large-scale data processing systems.
• Experience diagnosing and permanently addressing production issues in large-scale data systems.
