Senior Staff Backend Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own critical and complex backend systems, writing and shipping production code across core services
• Lead design and implementation of high-scale distributed systems for real-time, high-throughput workloads
• Set technical direction for foundational backend architecture
• Make architectural decisions balancing iteration speed with scalability and resilience
• Drive multi-service initiatives across storage, compute, APIs, and blockchain infrastructure
• Establish standards for observability, reliability, and performance tuning
• Raise engineering standards through design reviews, RFCs, and mentorship
• Act as a technical anchor during high-pressure incidents
• Improve developer velocity via tooling and CI/CD evolution

Requirements

• 10+ years of backend engineering experience
• Proven track record of scaling distributed systems in production
• Deep expertise in Rust, Go, or TypeScript
• Strong understanding of distributed systems design, consensus, and consistency models
• Extensive experience with database design and data modelling
• High-agency and execution-focused mindset
