Senior Staff AI Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and build production AI-native interfaces, including conversational UIs, agentic experiences, and generative UI.
• Implement end-to-end streaming experiences, including token streaming, progressive rendering, and structured output streaming.
• Engineer prompts, structured output schemas, and tool definitions to ensure model outputs render effectively in the UI.
• Develop reusable component libraries and design system primitives for AI features to be adopted across the organization.
• Establish company-wide AI UX patterns and standards for latency, error states, and accessibility.
• Partner with designers, product managers, and ML engineers to prototype and refine AI interaction patterns.
• Mentor senior and staff engineers to raise the bar for AI experience work across the company.

Requirements

• 12+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 3+ years of experience focused on AI or LLM-powered product surfaces.
• Expert-level command of React and TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience integrating LLMs into user-facing applications (streaming, tool calling, and prompt engineering).
• Strong design sensibility and ability to collaborate closely with design teams.
• Proven track record of defining engineering standards and patterns adopted by multiple teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building agentic interfaces, including reasoning traces and human-in-the-loop workflows.
• Background in real-time systems using WebSockets or Server-Sent Events (SSE).
• Experience with voice and multimodal interfaces (ASR, TTS, and turn-taking).
• Familiarity with generative UI patterns where models produce structured UI specifications.
• Experience with major LLM provider ecosystems such as OpenAI or Anthropic.
