Senior Sports Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own the technical architecture and blueprint for the Sports Data Platform's future
• Provide technical guidance and steering for external development partners, including code reviews and setting engineering standards
• Translate requirements from Data Science and business stakeholders into an actionable technical roadmap
• Drive the complete technical lifecycle of core data systems, ensuring scalability, resilience, and enterprise readiness
• Act as a strategic technical counterpart to product management and business leaders to shape architectural decisions

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in a data engineering role
• Expert-level knowledge of modern data modeling, ETL/ELT development, and data warehousing principles
• Proven hands-on expertise with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and deep proficiency with BigQuery
• Experience managing external vendors, sourcing partners, and complex multi-stream activities
• Fluency in both German and English
• Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work with international technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with data transformation tools, specifically dbt
• Proficiency with workflow management tools such as Dagster
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform
