About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute manufacturing engineering activities for the assembly and integration of electromechanical assemblies.
- Develop scalable processes from technical documentation and create manufacturing procedures and routers.
- Propose, develop, and lead process improvement and cost reduction projects using lean methodologies.
- Optimize manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts.
- Coordinate with design engineering to lead design changes and address technical, operational, or obsolescence issues.
- Estimate and track manufacturing costs to initiate continuous improvement activities.
- Interface with and direct technicians and operations personnel, providing leadership and backup for the operations manager.
- Support capacity planning and lab space layout for program changes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree with 6+ years of relevant experience, OR
- Graduate Degree with 4+ years of relevant experience, OR
- 10+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Electrical or electro-mechanical engineering experience.
- Experience with optical engineering.
- Lean certification (Green Belt or Black Belt).
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of program and project management techniques and tools.
- Familiarity with AS9100/ISO9001 industry standards.
- Experience with the fabrication of reflectors, lenses, electrical assemblies, or opto/mechanical alignment.
