About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute manufacturing engineering activities for the assembly and integration of electromechanical assemblies.
  • Develop scalable processes from technical documentation and create manufacturing procedures and routers.
  • Propose, develop, and lead process improvement and cost reduction projects using lean methodologies.
  • Optimize manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts.
  • Coordinate with design engineering to lead design changes and address technical, operational, or obsolescence issues.
  • Estimate and track manufacturing costs to initiate continuous improvement activities.
  • Interface with and direct technicians and operations personnel, providing leadership and backup for the operations manager.
  • Support capacity planning and lab space layout for program changes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with 6+ years of relevant experience, OR
  • Graduate Degree with 4+ years of relevant experience, OR
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Electrical or electro-mechanical engineering experience.
  • Experience with optical engineering.
  • Lean certification (Green Belt or Black Belt).
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of program and project management techniques and tools.
  • Familiarity with AS9100/ISO9001 industry standards.
  • Experience with the fabrication of reflectors, lenses, electrical assemblies, or opto/mechanical alignment.
