About the role
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enforce enterprise-wide data governance policies, standards, and procedures
- Define and document data ownership, stewardship, and accountability structures across business domains
- Establish and manage data governance frameworks, councils, and working groups to drive maturity
- Monitor and improve data quality through systematic profiling, validation, and issue remediation
- Partner with data owners to identify and resolve data defects and root causes
- Support master data management (MDM), metadata management, and reference data controls
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, privacy, and security requirements including GDPR, CCPA, ITAR, and SOX
- Collaborate with legal, compliance, cybersecurity, and IT teams to address data-related risks
- Provide training and support to data owners and stewards to ensure successful adoption of governance practices
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree with 6+ years of relevant experience in data governance or management
- Graduate Degree with 4+ years of relevant experience
- Or 10+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
- Deep expertise in data governance and data management frameworks
- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements such as GDPR, CCPA, ITAR, and SOX
- Experience with data quality profiling and Master Data Management (MDM)
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Information Management, Data Science, Computer Science, or MBA
- Professional certifications such as CDMP, DGSP, or CIPP
- Experience with enterprise software like SAP, Oracle, or PeopleSoft
- Strong understanding of data architecture, modeling, and systems integration
- Experience with cloud data platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Experience implementing data literacy programs and working in agile environments
