Senior Specialist Accounting

Responsibilities

• Perform and coordinate regional accounting activities within the GBS ESC, ensuring high-quality, compliant, and timely financial services.
• Operate and coordinate accounting-related transactions in sub-ledgers and cash operations, including Order-to-Cash (O2C), Procure-to-Pay (P2P), and Bank Accounting.
• Manage Record-to-Report activities, including monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger and closing activities in accordance with IFRS and local laws.
• Prepare financial statements, reporting packages, and analytical reports.
• Execute and coordinate activities related to fixed assets (IFRS 9, 15, 16, and IAS 40) and support the investment process lifecycle.
• Act as a Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for internal teams, local finance directors, tax auditors, and advisors.
• Maintain policies and procedures while supporting J-Sox controls and internal risk assessments.
• Manage sub-projects to optimize accounting activities and support the development of the GBS ESC.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in Accounting or Finance, ideally in a global or shared services environment.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, HGB, and international VAT law.
• Proficiency in SAP R/3, SAP ECC, or S/4 HANA (specifically FI, CO, MDG, and AA modules).
• Business fluency in English and/or German.
• Proven project management experience and the ability to work in transformation contexts.
• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certification such as CPA, WP, or equivalent.
• Experience in financial audit or tax-related advisory.
• Experience working within Global Business Services (GBS) or shared services centers.
• Solid understanding of the pharmaceutical industry.
