Senior Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and implement features in Openflow’s control plane and data plane for real-time, bi-directional data movement
• Build and evolve distributed systems for batch and streaming workloads across Snowflake and non-Snowflake environments
• Own medium-sized projects end to end from technical design through implementation and rollout
• Take operational ownership of components including monitoring, on-call, and incident response
• Apply solid engineering practices including clean code, robust testing, and observability
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and design to translate requirements into technical plans
• Analyze and improve performance, scalability, and reliability of existing services
• Mentor junior engineers and interns through code reviews and design feedback

Requirements

• 7+ years of industry experience building and operating backend or platform services
• Significant hands-on experience with distributed systems
• Strong computer science fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, and systems design
• Practical knowledge of concurrency, replication, partitioning, streaming, and fault tolerance
• Solid understanding of operating systems and networking (multi-threading, memory management, storage)
• Proficiency in Java or similar object-oriented languages like Scala, Go, or C++
• Experience building cloud-native services on AWS, Azure, or GCP using containers and CI/CD
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with data integration, observability, or streaming technologies such as Apache NiFi, Kafka, Flink, or Airflow
• Experience with analytics or data platforms
