Senior Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own the data modeling product surface including APIs, schemas, and abstractions for tables, views, and materialized views
• Design abstractions for managing queryable data from streaming materialized views to reference tables
• Define freshness and staleness semantics to balance query latency and compute cost
• Design APIs with strong schema taste, including versioning and backwards compatibility
• Drive requirements and shape the execution engine based on product surface needs
• Layer complexity to provide opinionated defaults for SREs while allowing custom pipelines for data engineers
• Lead a team technically by setting architectural direction, writing production code, and mentoring engineers

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience
• Deep expertise in databases, SQL, stream processing, or data pipeline systems
• Deep knowledge of data processing or streaming internals (late-arriving data, backfill, event-time vs. processing-time)
• Experience designing and shipping APIs with strong DB schema design and developer ergonomics
• Proficiency in Go or another systems language
• Ability to write production-grade distributed systems code

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building customer-facing data modeling or pipeline authoring products
• Hands-on experience with streaming semantics like watermarks, windowing, and delivery guarantees
• Background in designing query languages, schema DSLs, or transformation DAG semantics
• Experience building internal data platforms for raw event stream curation
• Familiarity with Apache Iceberg, open table formats, or data lakehouse architectures
