About the Company
Performance Drone Works (PDW) is building the next generation of tactical robotic systems used across defense, national security, and public safety missions. We design and produce multi-mission aerial systems that operators trust to perform in real-world conditions, reliably, repeatedly, and at scale.
Responsibilities
- Lead design and implementation of significant software features and subsystems
- Make sound technical decisions independently and navigate ambiguity
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and engineering teams to shape requirements
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews and technical guidance
- Identify and address performance bottlenecks, architectural weaknesses, and security gaps
- Support field deployments, product demonstrations, and hands-on debugging
- Drive continuous improvement in code quality and system performance
Requirements
- Advanced software development skills in C++
- Experience with performance optimization and memory management
- Proven experience delivering complex, production-quality software systems
- Hands-on experience with embedded Linux, Android, or similar platforms
- Experience building responsive UI systems (preferably Qt/QML)
- Knowledge of REST and JSON integration
- Proficiency with agile, CI/CT/CD, and code review practices
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
- 5–8 years of professional software development experience
- Must be a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident, or have asylee/refugee status (ITAR)
Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive experience with the Qt framework (QtWidgets, QML, meta-object system)
- Success deploying cross-platform applications on Windows, Linux, or Android
- Background in UAVs, aircraft, robotics, or autonomous systems
- Knowledge of build systems like CMake or QMake
- Proficiency with Git branching and collaborative workflows
