Senior Software Engineer, Orchestration Language Team

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Apollo MCP Server and GraphOS MCP tools using idiomatic Rust
• Ship customer-driven improvements and new MCP capabilities on a near-weekly basis
• Design and build "Skills" to make agent workflows useful and distributable across Apollo's product surfaces
• Improve tool discovery and introspection to help AI agents more reliably find and use GraphQL capabilities
• Collaborate with engineers across Federation, Connectors, and Client teams
• Own projects end-to-end, from design documentation through delivery and operational reliability

Requirements

• Professional experience with Rust and a focus on writing performant, maintainable code
• Expertise in systems engineering, including stateless/fault-tolerant systems or protocol implementation
• Hands-on experience using AI developer tools and a strong understanding of the current landscape
• Strong debugging instincts and a willingness to engage in hands-on operational work and maintenance
• Excellent cross-team collaboration skills and a growth mindset

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience with the Model Context Protocol (MCP)
• Experience building or maintaining "Skills" or similar packaged capabilities for AI agent workflows
• Experience with GraphQL or large-scale runtime systems
• Experience navigating high-escalation or high-incident environments
