Senior Software Engineer

About the Company

Mithrl is building the world’s first commercially available AI Co-Scientist. It is a discovery engine that transforms messy biological data into insights in minutes, helping medicines reach patients faster.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain core Mithrl product features across frontend and backend
• Own end-to-end feature development from product requirements to production deployment
• Build intuitive user interfaces that abstract complex scientific and data workflows
• Develop scalable backend services, APIs, and data pipelines
• Collaborate with product, design, ML, and scientific teams to translate user needs into technical solutions
• Make architectural decisions balancing speed, scalability, and reliability
• Improve system performance, reliability, and observability
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in technical planning and code reviews

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong full-stack experience with Python and React in production
• Proficiency in Django for building backend APIs and data-intensive systems
• Experience designing and working with GraphQL APIs
• Experience designing scalable systems, databases, and data-intensive applications
• Strong understanding of system design and software architecture
• Experience shipping and owning production systems used by real customers
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
• Strong problem solving skills and a product-oriented mindset

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building products for technical or scientific users
• Familiarity with data-heavy, analytics, or ML-enabled platforms
• Experience with cloud infrastructure such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Experience mentoring or leading other engineers
• Exposure to biotech, life sciences, or R&D workflows
