Senior Software Engineer - Java Backend

Responsibilities

• Drive technical excellence by analyzing, designing, developing, testing, and debugging complex software enhancements for Charles River IMS modules.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts and Product Managers to create sustainable software solutions for complex business problems.
• Provide thought leadership in product architecture design and direct problem-solving for major project phases.
• Develop and implement software using Java, C#, SQL, and JavaScript, while staying current with emerging technologies.
• Build and maintain cloud-native services using microservices architectures and Kubernetes.
• Utilize Kafka and message-based systems to support system operations.
• Conduct code reviews, write unit and automation tests, and perform manual testing to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Support the Agile scrum methodology by participating in daily standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.

Requirements

• B.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 6+ years of experience in financial services (Portfolio Management, Trading, Compliance, etc.).
• 5+ years of experience working within an Agile development methodology.
• Proven experience with microservices architectures and Kubernetes.
• Strong experience with cloud-native services.
• Proficiency in object-oriented programming and relational databases (RDBMS).

Preferred Qualifications

• MS degree in a technical field.
• Experience with Azure cloud services.
• Knowledge of Kafka and message-based systems.
• Experience with Snowflake.
• Strong proficiency in SQL.
