Senior Software Engineer II

About the Company

Nautilus is developing a single-molecule protein analysis platform to accelerate drug development and enable precision medicine. We are pursuing hard scientific problems with an entrepreneurial mindset to democratize access to the proteome.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver major capabilities within the Discovery Platform, from interactive customer experiences to backend data systems.
• Manage the full lifecycle of capabilities including design, development, deployment, and ongoing operation.
• Collaborate with bioinformaticians, biologists, and product teams to understand customer data needs.
• Partner with teams responsible for ETL pipelines and algorithms transforming raw instrument data.
• Drive technical design, contribute to architecture decisions, and maintain high standards for security, reliability, and scale.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews and technical dialogue.
• Utilize AI tools to improve the software development lifecycle.

Requirements

• 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in a high-performing software engineering organization.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Strong command of Python, FastAPI, React, and TypeScript.
• Proficiency with AWS cloud services.
• Solid experience with relational databases and understanding of columnar data stores.
• Focus on software observability and operational excellence.
