Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack)

Rec (recreation.ai) is reimagining how the world plays and participates in community by using AI to modernize the fragmented recreation industry. Founded by former leaders from Uber, The Athletic, and MasterClass, we are building a consumer product and enterprise platform to power everything from local swim lessons to municipal park management.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Engineering, Product, Design, and Partner Success to shape strategy and drive products from idea to launch.
• Build and maintain the core platform powering booking experiences, staff tools, and municipal dashboards.
• Write clean, reliable, and maintainable code while providing technical mentorship through reviews.
• Use AI tools fluently across your workflow, including scaffolding, code review, debugging, and data analysis.
• Make architectural decisions to ensure the platform remains nimble and scalable.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building software in collaborative environments.
• Mandatory AI fluency with daily use of tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent.
• Strong product judgment and the ability to think critically about what to build.
• Ability to thrive in ambiguity and bring order to early-stage problems.
• High standard for reliability and code quality.
• Strong communication skills and a partner-oriented mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Next.js, React, TypeScript, Node.js, and PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with AWS, Temporal, or Twilio.
