Senior Software Engineer

About the Company

Formal is a data security platform designed to help teams understand and control their data on autopilot. We are building a modern protocol-aware reverse-proxy for datastores and APIs that helps organizations understand their data in real-time. Responsibilities

• Design and develop a high performance data platform that can handle large volumes of data in real-time
• Build new product features from start to finish through research, implementation, and maintenance
• Help improve performance and reliability of net new and existing features
• Lead initiatives that have a strong impact on Formal
• Design scalable services as Formal grows and processes more traffic

Requirements

• Software development experience building data-intensive software platforms
• Strong knowledge of Golang and its ecosystem
• Experience with streaming data processing frameworks like Apache Kafka or Google Pub/Sub
• Experience debugging and optimizing complex production systems
• Experience working in DBs, OS, networking, or systems-level environments
• Experience with containerization (Docker, ECS, or Kubernetes) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
• Strong problem-solving and production debugging skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a fast, high-growth startup environment
• Experience using Temporal and Render
• Extensive knowledge of datastore protocols such as Postgres, S3, or Kafka
• Familiarity with cloud platforms like Azure or GCP
