Senior Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Write production-quality C/C++ for embedded targets and resource-constrained environments
• Build Python applications and services that orchestrate, monitor, and expose instrument behavior
• Develop and maintain device drivers, hardware abstraction layers, and communication interfaces (serial, USB, Ethernet, CAN, SPI, I2C)
• Design and implement software to coordinate electrical, fluidic, and mechanical subsystems
• Build state machines and control loops for complex, multi-step protocols
• Develop and deploy on Linux using Docker and containerized workflows
• Participate in code reviews and maintain high engineering hygiene

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science or Engineering with 5+ years of experience, or MS with 3+ years
• Strong C/C++ skills for embedded development
• 5+ years of Python experience for application-level software
• Hands-on experience with embedded development and real hardware
• Strong Linux command line and system debugging skills
• Proficiency with git and Docker

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building orchestration software for lab automation, robotics, or manufacturing equipment
• Experience designing state machines or control software for physical protocols
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and build systems like CMake or Make
• Background in scientific instrumentation, biosensor platforms, or medical devices
• Familiarity with protocols such as Modbus, CANopen, EtherCAT, gRPC, or MQTT
• Experience in regulated environments (FDA, ISO)
