Senior Software Engineer - Backend

Responsibilities

• Build and scale backend systems for Close's CRM across teams including Agents, Communications, CRM, or Growth
• Develop AI-driven features such as voice agents, conversational AI, and agentic infrastructure
• Design, ship, and maintain internet-facing APIs and public API surfaces
• Own real-time communications infrastructure and core CRM data models operating on billions of documents
• Debug production incidents, optimize latency, and maintain reliable systems with customer impact

Requirements

• Seasoned backend engineer with deep Python expertise and comfort across multiple languages
• Proven experience shipping LLM-backed features to production with a strong perspective on reliability
• Daily practitioner of AI developer tools with a builder mindset focused on shipping
• Track record designing and maintaining internet-facing APIs for diverse consumers
• Battle-tested in incident response, system ownership, and maintaining critical services
