Senior Software Engineer (Backend)

Responsibilities

• Design and build high-throughput backend services that handle millions of concurrent healthcare conversations
• Own core platform services end-to-end, from initial architectural design through to production deployment
• Build resilient systems capable of graceful degradation and high availability
• Manage and protect sensitive healthcare data with rigorous security standards
• Improve system performance, observability, and operational health across the entire service landscape
• Shape long-term architectural decisions as the platform scales

Requirements

• Proven experience building and operating production backend systems at scale
• Deep expertise in concurrency, distributed systems, and service design
• Strong ability to debug complex issues across multiple services, queues, and databases
• Ability to work on-site in San Francisco
• Preference for simple, maintainable solutions to complex engineering problems

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in highly regulated or high-reliability domains such as healthcare, finance, or legal
• Expertise in high-throughput or low-latency system design
• Experience with event streaming, message queues, and production AI/ML systems
