Senior Software Engineer, Backend (AI)

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs for AI-powered features using Python
• Architect complex, hierarchical Multi-Agent Systems to perform sophisticated, multi-step tasks
• Implement robust frameworks for AI system evaluation and manage fine-tuning pipelines
• Define and manage AI infrastructure using Terraform and containerized serverless solutions
• Optimize technical tradeoffs between model performance, latency, and cost
• Collaborate with core engineering teams to integrate AI features into the main application using TypeScript (Node.js)

Requirements

• 3–6+ years of backend or full-stack engineering experience shipping scalable systems
• Deep expertise in Python and its ecosystem for web services and data processing
• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
• Experience with major cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
• Experience deploying containerized applications
• Ability to work onsite 5 days a week at our NYC office in SoHo

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with managed AI services (e.g., Vertex AI, AWS Bedrock) and working with LLMs
• Experience with model evaluation frameworks (e.g., RAGAs, LangSmith, DeepEval)
• Experience with open-source agentic frameworks (e.g., LangGraph, CrewAI)
• Background in MLOps, data engineering, or consumer marketplace platforms
