Senior Software Engineer, AI

Responsibilities

• Design and ship LLM-powered product features end to end, including prompt design, structured output, and tool orchestration
• Pair with product-vertical engineers to unblock AI feature work and share patterns
• Build and extend evaluation disciplines to measure quality and catch regressions
• Improve observability for AI workflows, including traces, latency, cost, and production feedback loops
• Harden AI features for production reliability, including caching and memory behavior
• Handle PHI and sensitive resident data with strict adherence to privacy and permissioning
• Partner with product managers to translate clinical workflows into AI capabilities

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building and shipping production software
• Strong proficiency in production TypeScript, including Node services and APIs
• Hands-on applied-LLM experience (prompt design, structured output, agent design)
• Practical understanding of cost, latency, and hallucination tradeoffs
• Experience owning customer-facing features end to end
• Ability to communicate clearly with PMs, clinicians, and engineers
• High agency and ability to navigate ambiguous problems

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Mastra, Vercel AI SDK, LangChain, or LlamaIndex
• Experience with LLM observability tools like Phoenix/Arize, Langfuse, or Helicone
• Experience with functional TypeScript or Effect
• Ability to read Scala
• Experience in healthcare, senior living, SOC 2, or HIPAA regulated industries
• Experience as an early engineer on a small, high-ownership team
