Senior Software Development Engineer, Platform Engineering

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain components of PitchBook’s backend services
• Implement well-designed, testable, and efficient code meeting scalability and reliability goals
• Collaborate with engineers and product managers in an Agile environment
• Provide technical guidance and perform code reviews for team members
• Design and deliver small projects end-to-end with minimal guidance
• Support production applications through deployment, troubleshooting, and incident management
• Build and operate AI-powered capabilities across the product delivery toolchain
• Partner with ML Ops to integrate AI capabilities like coding assistants and automated testing

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a similar field
• 6+ years in Software Development or Engineering roles
• 6+ years in a production language (Java, Go, Python, or similar) and 3 years in a second language
• 4+ years experience with containers and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker)
• 5+ years experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Pulumi) and GitOps
• Experience with AWS and/or GCP
• Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with distributed microservices and event-driven architectures
• Proficiency with data technologies (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, Elasticsearch)
• Practical experience integrating LLM-based features (OpenAI APIs, LangChain)
• Familiarity with prompt engineering and responsible AI patterns
• Knowledge of domain-driven design and architecture trade-off analysis
