Senior Software Development Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable distributed systems that power AWS EC2's network virtualization infrastructure.
• Lead technical design and architecture decisions for critical components of the Hyperplane platform, including packet processing and traffic management.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and technical guidance to raise the engineering bar.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including network engineering, security, and product management.
• Optimize system performance through profiling and benchmarking to meet stringent latency and throughput requirements.
• Participate in on-call rotations and drive operational excellence initiatives to improve system reliability.
• Write high-quality, maintainable code in languages such as C++, Rust, or Java.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• 8+ years of programming experience with at least one major software programming language.
• 8+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, and scaling).
• Experience acting as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.

Preferred Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience across the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, build processes, and operations.
• Master's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent technical field.
