Senior Software Backend Engineer

Trashlab is the operating system for waste haulers, unifying dispatch, billing, calls, and routes into one powerful platform. We combine real‑time vehicle tracking, route optimization, and integrated billing to help fleets cut costs and improve service.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services for real-time vehicle tracking, route optimization, billing, and dispatch
• Own the reliability and observability of the platform, including monitoring, alerting, and on-call practices
• Model and evolve Postgres schemas, manage migrations, and build integrations with third-party billing and telematics APIs
• Shape long-term backend architecture in close collaboration with the founding team

Requirements

• Proven experience building and shipping production Node.js services
• Strong understanding of API design, database performance, and distributed systems
• Experience managing cloud infrastructure on AWS or GCP
• Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and Terraform
• Ability to scope and ship solutions for ambiguous problems independently
• Expertise in AI multi-agent systems
