Senior Site Reliability Engineer - Edge

Responsibilities

• Own the edge compute module, including the standard hardware, OS, and runtime environments.
• Build and maintain a standard, documented provisioning pipeline for image building, flashing, and configuration.
• Drive the implementation of a hardened base OS baseline, moving toward SELinux-enforcing as the default.
• Implement secure boot and supply-chain integrity from silicon to running workloads.
• Define reliability metrics and SLOs for edge environments, including observability that survives DDIL conditions.
• Partner with the Security team to co-own the hardened system posture.
• Standardize and automate procurement and provisioning to eliminate tribal knowledge.

Requirements

• Senior or Staff-level experience running Linux at the edge (embedded/SBC reality rather than cloud VMs).
• Proven experience with DDIL (Disconnected, Disrupted, Intermittent, and Low-bandwidth) environments.
• Fluency in edge and embedded systems, including Jetson-class compute, ARM, and ROS.
• Strong networking fundamentals with the ability to debug constrained, multi-hop networks.
• Experience with cross-compilation and hardware/software integration.
• Ability to own a greenfield function and impose order on complex, unstandardized processes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Mesh or RF technologies.
• Background in defense or highly regulated industries.
• Hands-on expertise with SELinux, secure boot, TPM/attestation, and reproducible builds.
• Exposure to cold, thermal, or environmental hardware testing.
